Woke up this morning and saw that WordPress 2.7 stable release is available for download. I didn’t follow up during the development stage. Just by looking at the video below, one word in conclusion – SEXY!

It’s beautiful, fast and flexible! The best thing is – version 2.7 allows you to upgrade your WordPress blog with the one-click-upgrade feature, like what you have been doing while upgrading plugins in the previous version.

I’m going to upgrade all my blogs to WordPress 2.7 now.

It’s only 18 days before Christmas. Are you in the Christmas mood already? The streets is full of Christmas decoration. You can also setup the Christmas atmosphere in your blog!

This is a very simple plugin for all WordPress blogs! Unlike the traditional Javascript snowflake , all you need to do is:

1. Download the Let It Snow plugin.
2. Upload the let-it-snow folder and its contents to your blog’s plugin folder (wp-content/plugins).
3. Activate this plugin and you’re done!

How do you prevent spam comments in your blog? In Blogspot.com, it seems like you have to moderate all comments manually. But in WordPress, the Akismet plugin is used to catch spams. If you are hosting your own WordPress blog, Akismet is also one essential plugin to be installed.

Although I have Akismet installed, I still can get a lot of spam comments which will be filed under “Akismet Spam” for further manual moderation. You feel like getting your own domain, and you signup for a hosting plan. You want a WordPress blog but don’t know where to start. Now what? You can always download the latest WordPress release and upload to your host. And start to do the installation manually, just like how you setup a WordPress blog in your own local computer.

Most hosting plans include a bundle of pre-install scripts in your control panel (eg. CPanel, DirectAdmin). There are several script library like Fantastico, Installatron, etc. (depends on your host provider). To make life easier, you can always install your WordPress blog via the script installer.
